Salmon World Release Rainbow Trout into Tinwald Domain March 30, 2011
Posted by admin in : Salmon World News , add a commentA few months ago we released our rainbow trout into the Tinwald Domain in Ashburton. Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) will spawn for the first time when they are three or four years old, and after that they will spawn every year after that. They spawn in spring and take about four to seven weeks to hatch.
We released our rainbow trout as they became to big for our rock pools. Here are a couple of pictures from the day.

Posted by admin in : Salmon World News , add a commentSalmon World murals by Marc Spijkerdosch. Marc Spijkerdosch the world renowned muralist has produced truely amazing pieces of artwork focused around the Rakaia Salmon and Gorge scenery. Witnessing Marc at work was a wonderful experience leaving me completely mysified as to how a human being could possibly produce such a unique work of art. You must come and visit Salmon World Rakaia and witness for yourself his incredible talent and how it blends with the local Salmon and Trout living in the aquarium.
