Fish & Game North Canterbury rescued 150 salmon from Trustpower’s Highbank powerstation near Methven. The salmon spawning seasons generally starts in April where the salmon head back up the river to the stream they were born. The salmon mistakely swam up the tailrace and if they were not rescued they would only come out dead at the end of the poweverstation. Pictued below is Fish and Game volunteer Ken Lee.
